Funspot 9th Annual International Classic Videogame & Pinball Championships

Shaggy May 22, 2007 3

Here is some news regarding a big event that is coming up next week in  New Hampshire – the 9th Annual International Classic Game Tournament. While the event primarily focuses on classic coin-op arcades and pinball machines, they are also going to hold tournaments on some classic Atari 2600 games as well. This event is being co-sponsored by Funspot and the American Classic Arcade Museum and as such attendees will be able to play from 200 different classic arcades! On top of the competitions that will be held (with cash prizes of course EDIT: and hosted by Twin Galaxies referees), Ralph Baer will be attending the event on June 2nd from 3:30PM to 7PM.

The event will begin on May 31st and will run until June 3rd for a total of four days of classic gaming goodness. It will take place at the Funspot Family Entertainment Center in Weirs Beach, NH, which claims to be the largest arcade in the world (from the pictures of it, that looks like it could be true). Admission is $30, click on the links below for extra details.

This promises to be an incredibly fun filled event and much as previous years have shown, it’s definitely not something to miss out on! I mean you quite literally never know who’s going to suddenly show up and what Golden Age game will have its WR taken down next.

The staff @ Funspot go all out each year to make these events memorable, and the unveiling of a few new classic gems is also a welcome bonus.

As well, Twin Galaxies referee’s will be present at the event to take down gamers scoring achievements on titles not directly in the competition [to which there are around 300 or so above and beyond.]

It’s worth the trip! Especially when all classics are 1 token and a token can be as cheap as 11 cents!
