"Never has been a violent game in arcades, has there?"

You're joking right? Arcades practically gave birth to violent games. To name a few: Death Race, Chiller, Mortal Kombat, House of the Dead (originals had a setting where you could set the blood to red, as well as some other colors), Smash TV, NARC, etc. It is true that the current political climate frowns upon super-violent arcades but there have been plenty of violent games that paved the way for the standards you see on consoles these days.

I feel conflicted about this game. On one hand, it's the ultimate selling out of Silent Hill. Swear to mother loving God, one boss is a DRAGON! Go to YouTube and see for yourself! On the other hand, shooting UFOs for bonus points is pretty cute, and you know what I found when I checked the monster section of the official site? Robbie the Rabbit...WITH A CHAINSAW! Yes, at some point, you get to fight Robbies armed with axes and chainsaws! But, back to the previous hand, Robbie's been cleaned up. No bloody mouth or anything. Yeah, gotta Silent Hill clean for the kiddies. Never has been a violent game in arcades, has there?

Right, just got back from playing this in Nagoya.

The videos make it look terrible, it's not.

It's not great, but a few key features set it apart from HotD etc.

1. The set up- it's LOUD, really loud, and you're in this clastophobic little area surrounded by black drapes, it really pulls you into the game. It's genuinely creepy in parts, the section where the lights go out in the hospital for example, and where Pyramid Head first appears.

OK, that's only one feature, but it makes the game good enough for you to want to try it out at least. The sound, a lot of panicked shouting, typical SH noise, screaming etc. is great and true to the series.

Graphically, it's nothing special, but it does the job.

Problems- reloading feels sluggish. I don't know if thats intentionally trying to re create the fact they are civilians, but it seemed to take ages, and theres always a lot of enemies on you. Perhaps this is an attempt to encourage you to take them down with better placed shots.

The dialogue is really bad (subbed in Japanese), just like HotD. "No! Don't come this way!"

Theres some moments during the PH boss fight where I just can't see how you could avoid taking damage, which was annoying. The cable was also too short on the gun (which felt a bit small in itself).

Yeah, I'd play it again.

About time they made a Silent Hill game.
The HOTD games always made great money .
I think this game will do even better..
Depending on location of course.

Since they are releasing it in arcades then they know it will make money. Arcades are tested to make sure they pull in money otherwise they don't go to market. The problem is all the Silent Hill fanboys are crapping on it despite never trying it out because it's not a remake of SH2. Frankly if it was then it would never make money in arcades as you need fast paced games for this market to be successful.
