Here’s a little blip about an event called Hudson Days in Waterloo-Ceder Valley Iowa where some arcade enthusiasts are setting up a ‘retrocade’ tent for people to come by and play some classic games. From the local news there:

Local collectors Ben Rollins and Troy Evans have set up Retrocade in a tent at Hudson Days, which begins today. It will include about 10 of the 20 games they currently own.

“It’s going to be everything from Donkey Kong — from the beginning — to this motorcycle game,” said Rollins, indicating the Manx TT Super Bike game in his grandmother’s garage off La Porte Road, which serves as their repair shop.

Most of the games the pair owns were made between 1992 and 1996. Captain America and the Avengers, Die Hard Arcade and StreetFighter II are among the games in their shop now. Their newest model is Megatouch Force 2004, a touch screen machine that features a variety of games.

In addition, Rollins’ father is a collector with games like Asteroids, Space Invaders and a table top version of Pac-Man, some of which will be used at Hudson Days.

Sounds like a lot of fun, it’s just too bad that I’m a few thousand miles away. But if you are in the area and love arcades then there’s a good reason to drop by Hudson Days.
