More on the "Death of Arcades" video

There has been a lot of discussion about the “Death of Arcades” video, no where more so than on the comments page of the video itself.

[via Kevin Williams of The Stinger Report]

“The Director of the contentious ‘Arcades are Dead’ video bows to viewer pressure and answers criticism and at the same time promises a next video claiming ‘Arcades have Returned’! It is thought that pressure from the number of sites that have dropped the original video and the hard hitting criticism of factual errors and poor research has forced this U-Turn.”

Some more information on the exact reasons to the following forum news.

    – Producer has not changed plans, a ‘Arcade has Returned’ video was always in the episode schedule
    – The original video has not been dropped off some sites, the distributors asked it removed for copyright reasons
    – The producers of the video stand by all their comments, stating they were referring to the American market

Personally, I think the anger of the hardcore arcade fans has heated the criticism of the original video and that cooler heads need to prevail.

We look forward to the next episode on arcades.

I think it doesn’t the fact that they were still dead wrong about several ‘facts’, but they can make up all the excuses they want. I certainly have a cooler head about it now but my level of respect for this network is pretty much zero. I guess we’ll see if they manage to redeem themselves at all.

As always after the heat and froth the fans come up with the best quotes on the whole show:

“…It’s factually inaccurate and presents incorrect statements as facts to an uninformed audience. The reason it has over 99% approval is because very few people are aware of how misinformed most of the video is…”

“…Well produced, but poorly researched and unsubstantiated opinion really does a disservice toward presenting a history of videogaming…”
