You’ve already seen the pictures of Sega’s massive OutRun 2 Special Deluxe cabinet where real cars (or replicas of them at least) are used as the ‘game cabinets’ for the game. It looks like Toyota has taken a page from Sega’s book and created a simulator that features something very similar, with a real Toyota car setup to a simulation in Japan. The car sits inside a 7.1 meter dome that functions as a 360 degree screen and included in the platform are tilt sensors and other devices to simulate a real driving experience as best as possible.toyotsimu1.jpg The simulator is going to be used as a way to test bad driving habits however in a goal to create a car that never crashes so don’t expect to see this anytime soon at an arcade near you, but it’s always good to see arcade influence being used for good elsewhere in the world.
