I am opening up an arcade in St. Louis and I am also concerned about people just not caring anymore its a big risk on my part that I can generate enough revenue. One place to go to get numbers is Playmeter Magazine and go to their State of the Industry reports.

We have all the trade information and stats on the US, Asian and European market. We also run a consultancy that dose research for the developers in the scene.

Just email me Josh with what you need and we can get you past issues - or direct you to the trade journals.

I was thinking about opening an arcade. I still am. My problem is that I cannot find enough information on the internet to really research this. All I ever find are articles on the death of the arcade, or message boards with people saying how much they miss the arcades but don't really seem to care if the arcade scene returns or not. It would be nice if there was a website or message board where arcade operators or would be operators could go to discuss business information, such as marketing strategies, what games work in their arcades, as well as important information for would be arcade operators, such as start up costs, games to get, and other things. The arcade business plans that I find when I do a Google search seem laughable, like the 125aday one. If I could arcade operators who claim they have a profitable business, their sales are going up, they are living a decent life, etc. I would be more inclined to open an arcade I guess.

Anyways, good article.
