Midwest Gaming Classic 2008 – Arcades & Pins video

Shaggy April 13, 2008 0

Here is a video of a walk through the pinball and arcade area of the Midwest Gaming Classic. The pins definently outnumber the arcades from the looks of it but either way I’m certain that MGC was a lot of fun. That is another event I’d love to go to in the future and meet up with some other classic gaming fans. Video by DhgHunter.

And what the heck, I’ll post the video for the museum walk-through as well, if you love classic games then it’s fun to check out all this stuff. I love the collection of Atari Lynx games around .45 sec in, I have only about 20 Lynx games but I would love to have as many as are in this video! I also have a NUON which shows up at about 1:27 in the video (not many gamers know of that system) and an Atari Jaguar right next to it which I have a large collection for. Lots of Gamecubes were at the show for some reason. There are a lot of systems that show up in the video that I’d like to get one day, but I only have so much room in my house. 🙂 Video also by DhgHunter

Video of the Main Hall which features more arcades that I had previously overlooked.

Funny how the most popular systems in that gaming museum were the new ones. All the 13-year old boys were clustered around the Xbox 360s and PS2s. LOL

They didn’t show enough of the arcade games for me – I know there were a lot more. Hope I can go there in the future.

Yeah I was hoping for a better look at the arcades but oh well. I noticed that the kids flocked around the new systems and the older people around the older systems too. I think they had too many GameCubes setup though, what was up with that?

There were a lot more arcades shown in the “Main Halls Walk-Through” video you can find on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGfhKRSYI-Q

I didn’t get a real good chance to focus on the arcade area because of the amount of people in those areas. However, At about 1:11 you can see the first arcade area (and the throng of people in that area…), at about 2:50 some more pins & arcades, at 3:43 a few more pins, and a slightly better look at some of the arcades at 4:34.

As for the GameCube’s, that area beginning with the Lynx games and ending with the SNES was Tom’s area (one of the local collectors that helps with the museum area), and he usually focuses on Nintendo and Sega consoles. He brings his younger kids along each year which probably accounts for some of the GameCubes.

The most popular systems were probably the Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3. Everything else did fairly respectable.

    Later.
