The Metal Gear Arcade announcement video; game will get a worldwide release

Shaggy June 6, 2009 2

In case you missed it, here is the announcement of Metal Gear Arcade at E3. Having seen it now I see that they are planning on a worldwide release with this one with Japan coming in first so you will be finding it in US and European arcades down the road. The reason I emphasize this is because initially it was unclear as to where it would go based on info I read on websites prior to seeing this video. No word on when or for how much yet but at the very least this is yet another arcade title to come along this year that has players talking about in places that do not focus primarily on arcade titles.

I have also added this to our master release list for Arcade titles in 2009.

I am gob smacked that the consumer reports keep trying to claim this is only a Japanese release. I have even openly questioned why they are playing down the announcement that Konami took the time to lead at E3 – a US show – only for the editor of the consumer site to change the subject. I think that many of the consumer media were wrong footed by the announcement and its easy for them to keep peddling the ‘arcade is dead’ lie that admit that 2009 will have a hot new arcade game.

I agree – at first I honestly thought that it was a Japanese only release. It shouldn’t have to be this difficult to get gamers excited about it but sadly many seem to be fans of games they can rent from Blockbuster.
