The man who was the director of Sonic Unleashed and the main brain behind the Hedgehog Engine has left Sonic Team (which had been known as AM8 at one point where they created arcade content such as Samba De Amigo and Puyo Pop Fever) and joined Square Enix, Sega has confirmed. While it isn’t known yet what he will be up to over at Square Enix (they do have an arcade division), this news could mean some changes as far as the direction where Sonic may be headed in the future for the company.  So this is probably something to be considered only slightly in the realm of arcade news but so far it looks like it will be another slow week.

What part of Sonic Unleashed? The good (i.e. daytime levels) part?

He was the director: that makes him responsible for all of it.

I would remind you that Sonic Team (previously AM8) also had a number of arcade releases including Sonic Fighter.
