While Taiwanese company IGS is mostly known for their work with 2D games, they are slowly exploring the 3D realm with titles like their upcoming racer, Speed Rider. Some information on SR was seen at JAMMA and now IGS has launched a website for the game and it was even seen on location test recently. According to the website, it appears that the game will have a configuration where you sit on a motorcycle controller but at both JAMMA and the recent location test the game was shown off in a modified Taito Vewlix cabinet that featured a motorcycle steering mechanism but not a seat.

Thank God IGS is entering that under-served arcade niche: the racing game.

If we’re lucky we’ll have 15 more racing games announced by years end!

In all honesty, if 2010 or any year went by without a single racer game in the line-up, I’d be happy too.

I have to agree that we have a tasrget ritch environment on the old racer scene. However, 2010 is going to be even more crowded!

Yeah I know, which is too bad but not surprising in the least.
