GTI Cabinet

Fans of Konami’s GTI Club can finally look forward to actually playing the game that was seen last January as Konami and Electrocoin demonstrated the final release version of the game, GTI Club – Supermini Festa at the FER Interazar exhibition in Madrid, Spain recently. As you can see above, the deluxe version varies a bit from those “quaint shop” style cabinets that had been seen previously on location tests and at ATEI 2009.  Konami will be showing the game off at a couple of other upcoming European trade shows as well – for more info on that, see the press release after the break.

Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. GTI Club Supermini Festa! – Launch

The autumn rounds of trade fairs in Europe will see the official launch of the GTI Club Supermini Festa! product into the European, Russian and Middle Eastern markets.  The product was first shown at the ATEI 2009 in January, since that time the software has been completed and the game is housed in a new cabinets specifically designed for the local markets by Konami’s Exclusive European Distribution partner Electrocoin.  There are standard and deluxe versions available.
The game will be on show in Spain at FER, UK at Preview and Italy at ENADA.

John Stergides of Electrocoin said “This game is unique and appeals equally to male and female players.  The party games were very popular with the female players, in particular the La Tomatina, where players race around the streets shooting tomatoes at each other!  The traditional race modes are perfect for the male players and differ from other games on the market allowing players to find short cuts around the streets of the various cities that they are racing through.  The figures from the extensive testing have been very impressive”

James Anderson of Konami said “The game is great.  I remember playing the original game back in 1996 and we have certainly captured the fun essence of the original title and brought it up to date.  We have licensed many of the popular cars from the original game and numerous new cars such as the Fiat 500, MINI and MINI COOPER S.  For the European version we have also developed a handbrake system that is very reminiscent of the original.  The game is not just another circuit racing game like most of the others on the market, it offers a variety of “mini games” such as the infamous Bomb Tag Mode and also Car Football, that appeal to players of both sexes and all ages.”

The initial mass production run starts imminently, for more information please contact Electrocoin.

GTI Club – First European Showing

The FER Interazar exhibition in Madrid saw the European launch of ‘GTI Club – Supermini Festa’. On show was the deluxe version of the game. The game is the latest incarnation of the classic arcade racer that sees players competing around the streets of various cities in head-to-head racing and also in multiple very unique and fun “mini games”.

The product was such a hit at the show that the first orders were placed even before mass production had started.

Gerald Steinberg of Oasis Retail Services Limited said “When I saw the game being played constantly at the show, it reminded me of the original that I had huge success with. I know this product will be a strong earning title therefore I have ordered the game without income testing”.

John Stergides of Electrocoin commented, “Gerald flew to the exhibition and saw the game.  He can remember the original version that Electrocoin manufactured of 16 years ago and the huge earnings from it.  He has ordered the first two deluxe units from the production line for installation at Belfast International Airport”.

The game will also be shown at the Preview 2010 in London and the ENADA Show in Rome.  For more information please contact Electrocoin.

Is it the same game as the recent console remake?

All of the information I have received says that it is a completely different version but I do not know how similar they might be at the end of the day, especially where they have been working on it all year.

It’s no relation to the console release.

The finished article has new tracks compared to the single track that was shown at ATEI.

Unfortunately the umbrellas and canopy were not practicle for a European release. (not chav proof)

Just played it to completion – the three courses are great and the Party Games are fun. Best driver of 2009.
