(Chicago, Ill.) – After a long and grueling tournament, on Saturday, October 2, Big Buck Hunter and Big Buck Safari have crowned the 2010 World Champions. Trevor Floren of Lake Villa, IL, took home Pappy’s Jug and the $10,000 top prize in the Big Buck Hunter Pro tournament and Alex Derhohannesian of New York City won King Shaka’s Tusk and $10,000 in the Big Buck Safari tournament. Trevor Floren has competed in past Big Buck Hunter championships, but this is his first victory at the World Championships. Floren, who won a Big Buck Hunter game in a local tournament, gets plenty of practice and it finally paid off as he took down the 2009 Big Buck Hunter Pro champion Nick Berg of Minneapolis. With his family watching and sporting “Team Trevor” gear, Floren won his first-ever World Championship.

Alex Derhohannesian of New York City took home his first-ever World Championship in the Big Buck Safari competition. The East Region champion knocked out Chris Fream of Minneapolis in a hard-fought battle. City Slicker Derhohannesian trains in New York at Black Bear Lodge and 7B, and this is his second time participating in the World Championships after finishing fifth in 2009.

The two-day event, consisting of the Regional Finals and the World Championships, attracted hundreds of people and included free Big Buck Hunter games, live band karaoke, raffle prizes and more. This year, Big Buck Hunter also welcomed the first-ever celebrity participant. X-Games motocross champion and star of MTV’s “Nitro Circus” show, Travis Pastrana, who qualified in the East Region, and finished in 8th place in Big Buck Hunter Pro and 10th place in Big Buck Safari.

To qualify for the World championships, players had to play Big Buck Hunter Pro and Big Buck Safari games that are connected to the CoinUp Network, which allows them to keep track of their stats online and compete against other players across the country.
