Pac-Man Halloween Lawn Decorations

(Thanks to reader Brian for the tip!)

I was browsing a local store a couple of weeks ago and I came across something in the Halloween decorations area that immediately caught my attention – a Pac-Man Halloween lawn decoration. I didn’t have a camera to take a picture of it at the time but it didn’t take long for these to start popping up in public. Perhaps one could call it a part of Pac-Man’s 30th anniversary but I didn’t see any official Namco logos on the box but it’s still cool. You can see more pictures of the setup as seen above at Big Squid RC

Speaking of Halloween, I’ve been looking around to see if there are any new costumes out there that happen to be something you could call arcade-related but aside from stretching it with Mario Bros. or Street Fighter, I haven’t seen anything new. This does underline how currently there aren’t any arcade-specific characters out there which are in the public eye as we haven’t really had any games revolve around a distinct, likable character in quite a while. I guess someone could cosplay the characters from light-gun titles like Let’s Go Island or Deadstorm Pirates. But in favor of the retro mood I personally would love to see a Sinistar costume – I imagine that someone did that back in the 80’s but it would still be cool today as he hungers for delicious candy.

As a refresher, here are some old links from some other Halloween costumes we’ve covered in the past:

I found one of these Pumpkin Pac-Man ornaments a few weeks ago at Wal-mart and was thrilled. I’ve since seen them at Menards as well.

I have this in one of the two windows of my Hybrid Arcade (it’s an arcade an stuff-your-own animal place) in LIncoln, NE. The only issue with them is the “Trick or Treat” sign is extremely crumpled by the packaging. I ended up removing it (it’s attached by a few threads) and it’s now a great arcade decoration.

The number of positive compliments has been fun 🙂

I’ve thought about getting one for my arcade too but the one big problem I have is lack of space. 🙁

This year, the four of us are going as the characters from Gauntlet.
