DJ Max Technika 2 coming to IAAPA, US

Shaggy October 29, 2010 7

We have known about the existence of Pentavision Global’s DJ Max Technika 2 game for some time now but it wasn’t 100% clear as to whether the game would be getting a US release or not. The first DJ Max Technika didn’t garner huge sales in the US but it did see big player support online, such as we saw with the Arcade Heroes Game of the Year 2009 poll.

Pentavision Global has cleared everything up for us by issuing a press release that shows that DJ Max Technika 2 will in fact be making a debut at IAAPA in Orlando, FL next month at the Pentavision Global booth. It does appear that the company who was in charge of the first DJ Max Technika in the US, PM Studios is not involved here as they are not mentioned in the press release nor in the brochure.  I wondered about that when we heard news of Pentavision merging with Pipeline Games Inc. a short time ago to create a stronger presence for the company in the US.

As we see from the brochure, the game has new modes, new songs (up to 110), 2 player support (including a Duo Mixing mode), improved online support and IC card support. Perhaps with the improved features and stronger backing by the parent company the game will see stronger sales in the US but I believe that it will come down to having a better price than the first game (which was selling for around $10k).  I will be at IAAPA to get some video of this game in action and to try it out, along with getting a glimpse at anything else that Pentavision Global brings along.

DJ Max Technika 2 will be release in Japan in December(players are saying that it was released in Korea in June). Chances are that it will also see a December US release now but we will find out for sure at IAAPA.

The funny thing is that I’ve only found this game at trocodero’s funland arcade and no where else I’ve been in the uk. Does anyone know the sales of the game that’s been sold?

It’s not a lot – close to around three dozen. The problem is that it was a very expensive game to be coming from a company that hasn’t really established itself here yet. Had they been able to sell it 50% lower than what they were seeking, it probably would have sold much better. I doubt that DJMT2 will be at that price level but we can hope that it will come in at a lower price either way.

You kind of messed up at the end. Technika 2 has been out in Korea since June 16, with online service working since July (i think)

though hearing about it releasing in japan sounds really hype.

I have not heard that T2 is available in Korea but that it would be released in December. If that’s incorrect I will fix it but your information is the first time that I’ve heard that. The game was testing in Korea about that time however.

And this is not talking about it just releasing in Japan but also in the United States.

Technika 2 has been in Korea since June. I was in Korea for all of July and I saw the game in arcades. (Joy Plaza in Apgujeong)
