I was wondering where the previously announced Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 4 was at AOU 2011 and while the game didn’t make an appearance at the expo, Bandai Namco at the very least has unveiled a website and a trailer for the upcoming arcade racer, which will be coming out later this year. If you are unfamiliar with the Maximum Tune series, it’s more of a technical racer that focuses on realism instead of fantasy based races. Other than the trailer below, not much has been revealed about the game yet (I know most fans are awaiting world on whether their cards from 3 will work on this one) although on the website, the game’s producer Kazuhiro Maeda had the following to say about it:

It will be some time before you will get to play Wangan Maxi 4, but I can assure you the “Wangan Maxi of the Future” will be worth the wait!! Forget picking up coins on mountain passes! Wangan Maxi 4 will be 3 times more fun than anything before!!

Honestly i wouldn’t be surprised if they gave the card system a kick in the pants for WMMT4… I know that’s what SEGA did for IDV4.

Looks like a badass game I can’t wait to play it!

“Forget picking up coins on mountain passes! ”

Haha, the (not so) subtle blow to Initial D 6…
