Sega testing Operation G.H.O.S.T in Japan

Is Sega testing out an arcade sequel to their GHOST Squad series in Japan? It’s certainly possible as today they announced a new location test in Japan that starts this Friday (4/29) and goes until next Monday(5/2). The new game is called Operation G.H.O.S.T. and while practically no details have been released on the game other than a teaser site announcing the test, Sega did something similar with GHOST Squad, where on the flyer for the game they abbreviated GHOST for “Global Humanitarian Operation & Special Tactics”. As you can see from the only image we have of the new game above, it fits into the anti-terrorist mold that the first GHOST Squad did, but now with new shiny Modern Graphics™. We don’t know anything else about it yet but perhaps we’ll know something once the location test is underway.

UPDATE: Just to clarify, this is a test for a coin-op arcade game and not a console title. Sega doesn’t hold public location tests for their console games like this for one thing but I just want it to be clear.

Yes please! Ghost Squad is one of my favourite gun games, I still carry the save card in my wallet on the off chance that I happen across a machine.

The name makes me think of a cross between ghost squad ( of course) and taito’s operation gun series such as operation wolf etc, I hope there’s gonna be a cool feature in the game like time crisis pedal, primeval hunt touch screen etc 🙂
