…Nick Robbins of Minnesota! He’s now $15,000 richer than before, not too bad for being really good at a video game. Big Buck World/Safari is one of those games you can win cash at every month by posting a high score on an online connected version of the game. No need to join up with some sort of PC LAN clan/club and hope you make it.  Who knows, with enough practice maybe you’ll be good enough to be next year’s champ.

NICK ROBBINS OF MINNESOTA WINS 2011 BIG BUCK HUNTER WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP,

SARA ERLANDSON TAKES LADIES TOURNAMENT TITLE

— Robbins Took Home $15,000, More Than $50,000 in Total Prize Money Awarded Throughout Tournament–

(Chicago, Ill.) – It was a fierce competition, and after many long and grueling digital hunting treks, a 2011 Big Buck Hunter World Champion was crowned on Saturday, September 24. Nick Robbins of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., took home Pappy’s Jug and the $15,000 top prize in the tournament. Sara Erlandson of Beldenville, Wisc., was crowned champion in the first-ever Ladies Tournament, winning the top prize of $2,000. Nearly 100 of the best Big Buck players from around the country and Australia gathered at Chicago’s Cubby Bear to compete for a total of more than $50,000 in prize money.

Robbins, 33, spent the past year training for the World Championship and beat out the competition with his sharp shooting. Robbins works in IT and plays Big Buck Hunter at Old Chicago in Eagan, Minn. With the support of his Hunting Party, the Dosephs, Robbins kept his cool through an intense final round to take home the $15,000.

Erlandson, 28, won the first-ever Ladies Tournament and took home $2,000 and the Jugs of Destiny trophy. Erlandson and her husband, who also played in the World Championship tournament, own a bar, Clyde’s Corner, where they have a Big Buck Hunter game. A freelance graphic designer by day, Erlandson has honed her Big Buck stills at her bar and plans to score tickets to the Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears game at Soldier Field on September 25 with her prize money.

The two-day event attracted hundreds of people and included free Big Buck Hunter games, appearances by the Big Buck Girls, raffle prizes and more. Other high-profile competitors included NASCAR and X Games star, Travis Pastrana, who finished in 11th place, and Olympic snowboarding medalist and X Games competitor Scotty Lago.

Players qualify for the World Championships during a month-long qualification period during the summer. For the first time ever, in 2011, players were required to qualify on Big Buck World games, playing both Big Buck Hunter Pro and Big Buck Safari. In order to qualify, players must play games connected to the CoinUp Network, an online system that tracks stats online and enables players to compete against other players across the country.

So for a woman, it’s $2,000 instead of $15,000? Gotta love the sexist treatment in this country.

there was probably ten times more competitors in the male tournament, hence a bigger prize. but i love that the ladies’ trophy is called jugs of destiny.

There was a “ladies only” tourney for $2k and an “open (male and female)” for $15k.

    There’s your sexism Freddy.
