ReRave Coming to Arcades

A new music/ryhthm game is in the works and it’s headed to arcades. Called ReRave, it promises to break “the barrier of old fashioned “scrolling” and “matching symbols” that are typically found in rhythm games.”

ReRave is already found on iOS devices such as the iPad and iPhone and it was created by Step Evolution. The arcade version is a collaboration between Step Evolution and Coast To Coast Entertainment. Between the two they have plenty of experience in bringing rhythm arcade games to market, such as Pump It Up Pro and In The Groove. Most recently C2C released the gun game Friction to arcades.

Details on what will make the arcade version of ReRave stand out are few at the moment but we do know that it will feature a 42″ multiplayer touchscreen and use online connectivity for an interactive ranking network. The game will be at IAAPA for show attendees to get their hands on, so I’ll be sure to stop by the C2C booth and check it out. Either way it’s always great to see some new blood giving us something different to find in arcades!

If you want to see the iPhone version of ReRave in action, check out this video review. Also for the press release (which we have received in advance, thanks to Step Evolution and Coast To Coast), hit the post break below!

Step Evolution announces plans for ReRave Arcade. ReRave Arcade will be a collaboration between Coast to Coast Entertainment, Chris Cotty and the members who developed successful titles such as In The Groove and Pump It Up Pro. Chris is also responsible for the realization of notable titles: DJ Max Technika, and Friction.

ReRave combines music rhythm, as well as accuracy, to create a patent pending and innovative experience that is fun and challenging for all ages and skill levels. Game-play breaks the barrier of old fashioned “scrolling” and “matching symbols” that are typically found in rhythm games. Revolutionary movement is the name of the game!

ReRave is the first reaction based entertainment title to feature a 42 inch multiplayer touchscreen and a global interactive ranking network.

We are excited about ReRave’s Arcade introduction and hope you will be too!

Heard a lot of interesting things about the iOS version of the game, if I ever happened across a machine in the arcade I’d totally plunk down a credits’ worth to check it out.

I do wonder since its essentially the same people that created DDR knockoff In The Groove, if they’ll be bringing any of that kind of functionality to the arcade version of ReRave? (one of the last versions of ITG let users upload their own custom songs/step patterns for play on the arcade cabinet, so I could see something similar happen with ReRave.)
