Following up on the Trocadero closure – Where are some of the games now?

arcadehero October 5, 2011 6

The unwelcome news of the Trocadero shutting it’s doors in London earlier this year continues to have repercussions as some other London locations pick up some of the games that used to occupy the Troc. Our partner Kevin Williams of The Stinger Report has followed up on what’s going on with the Troc and it’s games. Kevin writes:

London seems replacement site for the closed Trocadero – players have directed the placement in the basement of the Las Vegas amusement site (one of the oldest in London) of a selection of the most popular games from the closed site. Including one of the few Street Fighter IV systems in the UK. The Troc facility remains shuttered with many of the machines still visible but inactive – though a LaserTag site is now up and running.

Check out his snapshots below

Here’s the laser tag place Kevin mentioned:

And now for the games:

Wow I can’t believe they have DDRX2 there! that and DJMAX TECHNIKA 2 (least I assume its DJMT2)

Don’t know when I’ll ever be in that part of the world though, sadly 🙁 but yay for those locals

I wonder if the landlords have any regrets for closing down funland as the facebook page was choc full of poeple saddened by the closure. Still at least most of the games have gone to a new home rather than being scrapped. If I had the money and space I would so buy at least a few of their machines for my own pleasure.

I wonder if the operators of the Funland venue rather than the landlords feel the pain more? They thought there was no worth in continuing at the site and even went on record saying that there was no interest in the site!

One of the big winners of the closure is NamcoLand at County Hall near the LondonEye. There amusement component to the entertainment facility has seen record earning since the Troc went.

      What price amusement?

Well obviousley the operators are hurting more but I wondered if the landlords regret closing funland down, I would have thought they would get no where near as many visitors as they did before since alot of gamers and casual people went down there to play games, I kmow I won’t be going to trocadero anymore either way. Namco station near county hall is a bit further I would have thought so I would think it only made a little difference, been to namco in county hall too and thought it was OK but certainly not trocadero. I only ever went once and It will only ever remain once :(((

If anyone used to play Battle Gear 4 Tuned in Trocadero they have the new Battle Gear 4 Tuned 2010 version with all the new tracks in the arcade right next to Goodge Street station
