Reality TV has covered a seemingly never ending range of subjects so it was only a matter of time before arcades would become the major focus of one – or at least one that is currently on the table. This show called High Score is a pitch for a full reality TV series that was produced by TNT Amusements, covering their work in finding, restoring and selling older arcade games to collectors. Or as the pitch goes on the Vimeo page of the teaser below: “It’s the “American Restoration” of the video and pinball game world. Todd and the crew hunt all over to find the favorite amusement machines and restore them to original working beauty. Follow along as they acquire games, fix them and do a number of other activity’s that will keep you watching. Not only will their adventures keep you guessing, but Todd’s long list of celebrity clients will be popping in from time to time to make an appearance.”

Here’s a preview below and if you’re interested in finding out more, there is thread about it on the KLOV Forums, currently 12 pages long.

So what are your thoughts? Is it something you would watch? If it finds  takes off, I can already see a pitch for a reality TV show about the trials and tribulations of an arcade or route operator…

I saw the preview video for this, seems kinda cool (even if I was a little turned off by him dropping those cabinets off the roof… 🙁 )

Even if this is an online-only thing I’d tune in, sure!

Yeah I remember many people upset at him for that (and still are).

I’d certainly watch it. But I agree, dropping the cabinets from the roof my me cringe.

Looks some what interesting, but why in gods name would you chuck those cabinets off a roof. There’s a special place in hell for people who get enjoyment out of that. Even if they’re beyond making a profit on, just keep them for yourself!

Even though Todd is far from “photogenic”, and TNT is a far cry from a master restoration outfit as shown in “American Restoration” (and the clip of them smashing perfectly good arcade cabinets is more than a bit shocking), any publicity for the arcade world is a win-win proposition for all parties involved.

    I’d actually watch it!

Yeah… Todd doesn’t have a lot of fans in collector circles. I’m sure I’ll check this out if it flies.

Now to jump over to r.g.v.a.c. with some popcorn to watch the fun 🙂

Oops… I take back my comments about Todd. I was thinking of someone else. I’ve been out of the collector game for so long that I got my operators mixed up. Todd is actually a great guy to do business with. He had a few parts I needed that no one else did and didn’t charge me an exorbitant amount for them.

I can’t believe they threw a Street Fighter 2 pinball machine off a roof, that was messed up.

Don’t throw arcade cabinets off a roof, you piece of human garbage. Even if they are the most waterlogged cabs in the world, it devalues the hobby and makes these things seem disposable.

    Grow up.
