Dariusburst Another Chronicle Now Available For Purchase Worldwide

We’ve been covering the progress of Taito’s epic shooter Dariusburst Another Chronicle for a while now and after seeing it released in Japan last year and then tested in Europe and the US this year, it’s finally time for venues to pick the game up so more players can enjoy this unique game. Taito has announced that the English version of game is now available for purchase (interested parties can contact Taito directly LINK FIXED).

I’ve had plenty of hands-on time with this game as I’ve been hosting the US location test at my facility since September and I am hopeful that many of you can get a chance to play it soon as well. I know I say this about a lot of arcade games but it’s really good. Thanks to the Chronicle Mode, this game has a ton of content that gives you a good reason to keep coming back to it and it’s unlike anything else currently in arcades, providing an experience you just don’t find anywhere else and it’s worth it. It’s also worth noting that for fans of co-op gaming this is also a gem since you can play with 4 players at a time. In fact there are Chronicle Mode levels that require 4 players to pass it. More information on the game can be found here if you are unfamiliar with it.

I want to say I’m excited about this, but…

    1. the only arcade in my area that would be able to afford this would be Dave & Buster’s, and I’m not too fond of D&B
    2. releasing arcade games outside of Japan and Korea these days is a terrible idea, because no one plays arcades anymore unless they’re fighting games or rhythm games.

Except that there are various American companies that make their living off of releasing arcade games. If no one played them they wouldn’t be doing so. Shooters like Terminator Salvation have been very popular, I’ve personally seen the Pac-Man Battle Royale I own doing very well during the holidays

@Ray, it is incredibly naive to making a sweeping statement like “…no one plays arcades anymore…” when we see D&B and CEC revenue up and one of the largest number of new venue openings in recent history!

The situation is that amusement is finding it hard to be treated with more support than lip service – and as more people get interested in releasing amusement titles we see a hardcore of commentators that want to dismiss amusement as viable.

I am just surprised that this view is still so prevalent with smart people.

Your link above that says “interested parties can contact Taito directly” is corrupt. Is it supposed to be an e-mail address?

I hope someone in my area gets this machine (though that nearby movie theater that hosted the DBAC location test before you unfortunately won’t, those punks). I don’t care if it’s the local Chuck E. Cheese; someone just make the investment!

What’s the final word on pricing, by the way?

I fixed that up, thanks for pointing it out!

I’m not sure what the final price is going to be, my impression is that it’s above $10k but that is one piece of info Taito didn’t share with me.

You think your place might get a discount on the cab thanks to having been a location test site? 🙂

Speaking of the testing, was there any feedback you gave to Taito that resulted in changes in their final overseas machine (or matters related to it)?

That’s certainly a possibility. We are going to be worrying about it after we move into a larger location next month however.

I did offer several suggestions to improve the software but so far I do not know of an update on that side just yet but they did mention the possibility of doing so at some point. One thing they definitely will be changing is the coin door. When it was in NJ it had numerous coin issues and likewise it did for me when I received it but those have been fixed now.

I just wrote to hollywood bowl in sheffield the other day where they tested out dirty driving and also asked about the possibility of getting pacman battle royale. really hope they pick this game up because I love shumps 🙂 they do have alot of the up to date games so I see no reason why they shouldn’t get this. I do wish they’d get rid of dancing stage and get the new verion because it’s been there for well over 11 years now with the same old songs that are no longer popular :/

Did you mean Darius, Pac-Man or both? 😀
