Square Enix and ByKing Inc. cooking up a new arcade title for 2012

When it coems to arcade titles, Square Enix might not be a household name in that regard but that seems to be due for a change. We recently ran news of their transforming arcade game (which thanks to a tip by ECM, looks like it might be coming to Europe after all – link @ SiliconEra) which is slated for next year and this morning comes news that they are teaming up with a company called ByKing Inc. to create some sort of new online action 4vs.4 player arcade game next year. Until we hear otherwise, we will assume for now that this is going to be something for Japanese arcades, especially something of that scale. What it is beyond that, no one knows but we will find out on January 11th 2012 (which just so happens to be my birthday, woohoo). A lot of 4 vs. 4 games in Japan happen to involve mechs so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a new entry in that direction.

Everyone knows who Square Enix is but what about ByKing? Taking a look at their history shows that the team members are no strangers to creating games for both arcade and consoles. They have quite a bit of experience on Gundam games as well as some 2D fighters such as Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 and Street Fighter III.
