Sega Card Gen MLB 2012 Footage + Sega Bass Fishing of the Dead

Here are two videos, one real, the other fake for April Fools Day, both done by different divisions of Sega.

Here is some location test footage of Sega’s upcoming Sega Card Gen MLB 2012 in Japan. This is the second game in the series that had started out as a US arcade game but after it failed location tests here they took it over to Japan where it got a limited release. Now they are enlisting the help of professional Japanese baseball players to help promote the game, in this case Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners. I imagine that this will stick to being a Japanese game although the concept looks like fun and we haven’t had a baseball video arcade game in many years. This is also one game that had been announced sometime back so its not an April Fools joke.

Now for something on the lighter side, an April Fools joke based on one of Sega’s older titles, that was actually re-released to arcades a couple of years ago as a trackball game. This was done by Sega of America, which you might have heard lately that there have been some layoffs and cuts taking place there. That is the home side of the company though, I haven’t heard if anything has affected their amusement division, which already had some corporate changes last year.

Speaking of April Fools jokes, aside from our own about Firefly Arcade, Taito did a little joke with Space Invaders taking over their homepage.

Any idea why it tested badly out here in the states? Seems like a no-brainer.

Sounded like poor placement on Segas part. It was in a Gameworks but not in a prime location from what I was told by someone who stumbled across it. Should have been tested at a card shop or some sports memorabilia store
