Dance Core Location Tests Spread Across Asia

A short time ago I had noticed that Wahlap Technologies -producers of such arcade titles seen in the US recently such as Storm Racer, Power Truck and a couple of others – had a new dancing game they had released in China called Dance Core. I didn’t think much of it because as far as I could tell, it was a lot like a bunch of other Chinese dancing games that are out there which are also difficult to get a lot of information on.It appears however that with Wahlap’s backing, the game is branching out into other territories as it was recently tested out in Seoul, South Korea and now it is testing in Japan. I have my doubts that we will see it out West but given Wahlap’s push to bring select games  here, I’m not going to rule it out at this point. With no DDR currently being sold in the West, that does leave an opening, although that is being filled in a big part by newer touchscreen rhythm games like DJ Max Technika and ReRave.

From the looks of it, Dance Core is aiming more for the Dance Evolution Arcade territory given that Konami is pushing that title in Japan currently. I think this would actually be closer to Konami’s older Para Para Paradise (correct me if I’m wrong) in style but either way it’s something a tad different from what is out there right now in the West and it’s showing a continued, stronger push for China to bring some games of a higher caliber to foreign markets. This does have support for USB Flash drives, uses HD video, great LED multi-colored lighting all over the cabinet and more.

might never play this in my lifetime, but seems like fun anyway. Probably gonna skip ‘Bad Romance’ though. 😛

looks interesting, hard to tell how it plays, seems like there is a pad on the floor but it’s also doing kinect like skeleton recognition????

Tried it a few days ago in a new arcade in Dinghai-China. Probably one of the harder ones to attempt when I’m not good with dance machines, but I’m ok on normal mode now XD. I can do Sorry Sorry, Abracabra and Mister pretty well, and stuff like VVIP, and Better Together. It’s reeeeaaaally fun, but it’s like actually dancing rather than just footwork XD.

This is descended from an early-2000s game called Dance Station 3DDX, so it doesn’t have any skeleton recognition. There are corner foot panels and then up, down, left, right, hand sensors, which only sense if you moved some limb across them.

I tried it in an arcade in the Philippines. It has a circular pad that detects body weight, four foot panels on four sides, and four hand sensors in front and side. The trick is you don’t have to step on the foot panel; you can simply shift your weight towards it, encouraging a lot of hip movement.

The steps take elements from the song’s original choreography (at least among KPop songs in the selection), which can be easily found on YouTube.
