Chicago Gets A New Barcade with Emporium Arcade Bar

Newsfeed 1215 via The Stinger Report

The new location news continues on, back to Illinois once again with a new barcade type facility opening its doors. Just so you know, I am sitting on two new location openings at the moment, waiting for some pictures so there is plenty more of that coming along.

In regards to this new facility, the news comes our way from an unlikely source, a website dedicated to game news, although usually not of the arcade kind, Destructoid. The writer, Liz Rugg made a visit to the location for its soft opening event and seems to be quite happy with what they offer. Her article can be read here. The Emporium website can be found here, as well as their Facebook page where they already have over 2000 fans, so they have made excellent progress in their marketing so far. Their game selection is loaded with classics at this point, I think the newest game they have might be Marvel Vs. Capcom but they also promise to add more to their current list of 35 games. Some of those include: TRON, Centipede, Ms. Pac-Man, PopEye, Q*Bert,  Mortal Kombat, Space Invaders, Xybots, Donkey Kong, Missile Command and more. They also have three pinball machines, Michael Jordan Space Jam, Fire Power and Bride of Pinbot.  I’m not sure how many classic arcade joints are available in the greater Chicago area now but it certainly has become much easier to find such entertainment in Illinois over the past few years. We wish the Emporium Arcade Bar the best of luck in their business!

The owners are friends of mine from college and while I am certainly very very biased they are very dedicated and passionate about making this work. Their family has more of an entertainment than gaming background but they know their stuff and if you have suggestions for improvements I am sure they’d take them into serious consideration and be open.

This will be the second all-classics arcade in Chitown!…Logan’s Hardware is not too far away over on Fullerton.
