Fighter News: Rumble Fish Revival, Street Fighter 25th Anniversary site

Newsfeed 1229 & 1230 via The Stinger Report

This morning I caught some news that a fighter released by DIMPS back in 2005 for the Atomiswave arcade platform was coming back, but details were sparse. Then Andriasang caught the official site for the announcement, so off we go. The game in question is The Rumble Fish, which had two installments on the Atomiswave. The Rumble Fish 2 is the particular game that is coming back, slated for a release through Taito’s NESiCAxLive arcade download platform. This is more than just re-releasing the software however as DIMPS promises to make some tuning improvements (something you expect with pretty much every fighting game these days as no one ever seems to be happy with what is put out).  At the very least, arcades in Japan can expect to see the game for a little bit, but collectors looking to get a board is something they might be out in the rain on. But being that this is a fighter, it’s pretty much guaranteed to not be arcade exclusive for very long as they will certainly do a home port. Official Rumble Fish site.

Also in the fighter realm’s, Capcom has a special website to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Street Fighter. For fans of the series that wish the reminisce or share artwork, it’s the place for you.

    I have Rumble Fish on PS2, but I guess it didn’t sell that well since we never got 2.

      I’ve heard about both but never have played them or seen a cabinet running one. In fact the only Atomiswave game I’ve ever come across is Demolish Fist, which was a decent brawler. I would much rather get Dolphin Blue though.

        Dolphin Blue is a pretty lousy Contra/Metal Slug clone–skip it!

          Never played it, but it looked good. But I suppose it didn’t sell really well for a reason. Perhaps Demon Front is easier to get anyways.

        Demolish fist? eh, I did not like it, but the character designs in that game are cool, more like KOF cool!!

      Actually, the game did pretty well in Japan…as well as the home release. If I didn’t know better, from what I heard…..and I’m probably wrong, something happen with the property rights of the game……sort like the same situation the Guilty Gear team had with theirs.

      Someone correct me on this.

        @Phil,
        Yep, what was about all we got out of Japan on this. Seems there were a number of brawlers that fell into the ownership franchise issues in 2000 – the need to nail down ownership and distribution, is one reason behind the ‘NESiCAxLive’ platform.

        For you all that have not see the full details of ‘NESiCAxLive’ please watch the following video:

        Is also the reason why SEGA have launched their own system to compete with Taito. To be frank there seems to have been some shenanigans taking place over games that were distributed onto SEGA cabs after they became popular!

    Rumble Fish coming back?! Wow, this is the biggest darn suprise ever! I can’t believe the second Rumble fish never got a console release only the mediocore first one. Can’t wait to see what dey make of this!

    Also, I love to have the NesicaXLive service is the U.S. and Europe. If japan has everything, why can’t the U.S. have some of that epicness they built?! the possibilities are so endless!! localization argreements are annoying!!

      I feel the exact same way! Japan is so epic, so epic that it makes their language hard to learn!! So many cool things to discover!!
