sometimes one thing that happens when I go for a trip is I fall behind on some things. This time, location news is one of them. Out of nowhere it seems that a few tips have come along, which I’m more than happy to share. It just caught me off guard a little.

UPDATE: The name of the first location is actually D&K Arcade. Found a Facebook page setup here.

First off, I found out about this one early last week but have been trying to find out more. Called the D & K Arcade, I can’t find much about it other than it uses the Galloping Ghost model of a retrocade with an entry fee, all games on free play. The weirdest thing has been no online presence at all from the owners. No website, Facebook, Twitter, nothing. I only know about it from a post on an arcade collecting forum, KLOV. As s pro-tip to any out there looking to open a new facility, in this day and age at least make an effort with one of the free resources out there to promote your arcade. Anyways, the D & K Arcade is located in Romeoville, IL and they have games like Donkey Kong/Mario Bros. combo machine, Centipede, Space Zap, Thief, Commando, The Simpsons, X-Men, Carnevil, Souledge, and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. There is certainly more but without any further reference, I guess one will have to make a visit there to find out.

Next up is a place with an online presence and they are already open, although they will be holding a Grand Opening event on Saturday March 30th. This is an FEC in Copperas Cove, TX and in addition to an arcade they have lazer tag, cosmic golf, party rooms, a bakery and even a Lazer Frenzy setup. The arcade at the moment has started off small but they have plenty of room to expand. From the photos, they have a Tank! Tank! Tank!, AC/DC Pinball, X-Men Pinball, Sea Wolf: The Next Mission, a pair of GRID 42″ cabinets, a Blazing Angels sitdown, a Terminator Salvation and a pair of Snocross 42″ cabinets (I’m pretty sure those are Snocrosses in the photo below – the black units facing away from the camera appear to have the X part of the marquee from that game). I can’t tell what game that is behind the Grid though. I thought it was Terminator Salvation but then I noticed that they have a TS in the back to the right. Looks like a mounted gun game. Either way, here is their website.

Finally we got a tip that Round 1 USA is expanding again with another location in California. This in particular will be at the Lakewood Center Mall in Lakewood, CA. I wonder if they will be sticking to CA for much longer with expansion – there is Vegas not far away and of course plenty of other cities where the model they use could work. I haven’t been able to dig up anything else about this yet but apparently work is underway at the mall there so I imagine an announcement will be forthcoming here soon.

Either way, we wish the best of luck in the operation of these new locations but luck isn’t nearly enough of course – if you live near any of these new venues, go out and support them!

Round 1 is taking over! They have some deeeeep pockets, such good arcades. This is great news, I hope they build one in northern California also.

I’m guessing the game behind the GRID could be a Dirty Drivin’. Just a guess but of course I’m viewing this on my phone so the quality/picture isn’t the greatest.
