From the DEAL 2013 Show in Dubai

The DEAL show has once again come and gone and thanks to Kevin Williams of The Stinger Report, here’s a look at what was there. It usually appears to be similar in size to Amusement Expo here in the States although the manufacturers that appear are not exactly the same, with a much stronger presence by various Chinese and Taiwanese companies.

Last year the biggest announcement we got from the show was the first showing of a game called K.O. Drive by Sega, which we have covered a few times already. As you will see from this year, there was nothing groundbreaking to discuss but we will cover the show regardless.

What was found at the Raw Thrills booth was not unlike the Amusement Expo 2013 booth with Snocross, Dirty Drivin and Disney’s Cars. Kevin informs me that the final version of Cars was there and included some software improvements over what we had seen at the show including the proper implementation of the Turbo button. It also had some other tweaks to tighten the handling so it’s ready for primetime in the public eye.

Here’s the latest showing of Mocap Games’ VR pods that we discussed recently.

Among the few never before seen titles at the show, was Chinese manufacturer Nitto Game’s Knight Rider. It doesn’t have anything in common with the TV show from the 80s, it’s just another racing game that apparently is trying to compete with Namco’s Dead Heat Street Racing as both games feature four tracks based on real cities to choose from. This doesn’t appear to have a camera however. The marquee on this is also similar to the new Dead Heat Riders motorcycle game (compare the marquees)

UPDATE: Lukasz on Facebook shared this photo from the show, a new boxing game called Punch To Win, which in addition offers a prize also has a video screen attached to it. Made by Kriss Sport

Sega’s focus at DEAL this time around was on Dream Raiders and GRID Deluxe. If there were any other titles such as K.O. Drive, they were not in the pictures.

Here’s the latest display of InJoy Motion’s Air Series cabinets. According to InJoy, the new system has been a hot seller for them so far (it uses air bladders to move the platform instead of metal arms and motors, thus it also costs less to make). They have a new game coming soon for this platform which will be unveiled at a trade show in Taiwan in just a couple of weeks.

IGS’s Speed Driver 4 was there, I had a chance to play this at IAAPA 2012. It was a fun technical racer that is competing with the likes of Initial D7 and MaxiTune 4 but this is available worldwide already and includes VS. online play across the globe.

Attack of the mounted gun games!

SIMULATORS

One thing Amusement Expo didn’t really have much of this year was elaborate motion simulators. These were found in force at DEAL 2013, much like at IAAPA 2012. InJoy Motion was already mentioned but you also had a few others trying to move their racing simulators (first two pics are from companies with the same products they had at IAAPA, 3rd is a Chinese company with something like the Typhoon Mad Wave, then TrioTech’s XD Dark Ride)

We’ll end it off with Raiden IV in some unusual cabinet I have not seen before, probably Chinese but it looks fitting to the game.

Is the Raiden IV game even legal? Not to stereotype but from the looks of the cabinet it looks like a cheap illegal Chinese knockoff…

It’s impossible to say just from the photo. Would need to get a look inside of it to see if its a bootleg or an actual TypeX board. The latter is cheap enough now that I can’t imagine it would be worth the trouble to bootleg but it is China…

That Raiden IV cab is pretty sick!
I’d love to own a crazy looking cab like that for shmups.

How legit is this company? They have some interesting designs including an Under Defeat HD cabinet, I just wonder if it’s legal or not…

Pretty hard to say, but yeah it’s the Sky King cab that’s pulling me in. I would say legal or not, they are pretty smashing looking cabinets!

Round 1 uses their cabinets, they’re okay… their LCD screen is blurry and stretched.

Guys, you know as a motion racing simulator enthusiast and admirer of Kevin’s work, a HMD in the form of an actual helmet would be the biggest turn on in user interest for this activity. I would love to see this roll out. We need this, I need this 😉
