Aliens Armageddon Cabinet Unveiled

arcadehero November 13, 2013 2

Well that was fast. I had thought that they might wait to show off the upcoming Aliens: Armageddon arcade cabinet for IAAPA next week but lo and behold a press release was sent out by Betson today that shows it in all its glory. Here’s the cabinet then more info below:

(QUICK NOTE: Certainly NOT the final design – you’ll notice it has no cables attaching the guns to it. But this is probably close to final)

Based on this image, arcade fans will automatically notice how similar this is to the Terminator Salvation cabinet. The gun holders and the guns are the same designs but with a different color.

In case you are not familiar with the developer Play Mechanix, they employ a number of individuals that have been involved in the arcade industry for many years. Several within the company have credentials that go back to various Midway games (Terminator 2: Judgement Day, CarnEvil, etc.) and the company is responsible for the development of other light-gun games such as the aforementioned Terminator Salvation, the Big Buck series and also the Aliens Extermination arcade game from 2006.

From the press release we can glean further details, including some story details:

Only you can save earth from the invading extraterrestrials in Raw Thrills’ latest shooter, Aliens Armageddon! Based on the popular Sci-Fi franchise, become a part of the action to help battle invading extraterrestrials after all of Earth’s major cities get wiped off the map. As U.F.O.s descend from the skies, it begins to look as if humanity is doomed. Fortunately, you are there to fight back to try to send the invaders back to the stars.

Aliens Armageddon is a fully-licensed Aliens product with four chapters of intense game play. Epic battles with enormous Xenomorphs will have player’s heart and guns pumping. Cutting-edge graphics and sound will make players feel like they are in the middle of all the action. Plus the force feedback guns with clip reload and alternate fire button add a depth of realism to the shooter.

This game is CoinUp enabled with online leaderboards that will drive players to come back over and over again. The lighted multi-layer Alien topper will draw in players from across the room. The impressive looking deluxe model comes standard with a massive 55” HD LCD display and a 42” mounted gun version is also available to fit any locations space limitations. Both cabinets have lighting synchronized with in-game actions to add another layer of excitement to this game.

(Emphasis mine to show that there is a mounted gun version not pictured here)

I had heard that there would be some sort of new gun mechanic in this one but from the picture and description I’m not seeing that so far. But who knows, I imagine any confirmation on that will come along next week at IAAPA 2013, where the game will be playable.

The Betson press release also mentions how Batman & Big Buck HD: Duck Dynasty will be there, along with a new videmption game called Barrel of Monkeys. Stay tuned as we will have more details on these and other games at the show soon!
