IAAPA 2013 Day One Part 2: Zombies, Aliens, Jetpacks, Go Karts and More

I was holding out until the end of the day for a batch of pictures to come in from The Stinger Report but I believe he got caught up in a lot of the post-show events. No worries, there are three more days worth of shows at IAAPA 2013. In the meantime another tipster has sent us in some videos and pictures from the show. Major thanks to him, although he is preferring to remain anonymous 😉

First is a video showing some quick clips of Plants Vs Zombies The Last Stand and Transformers Human Alliance that Sega has on hand. Clips were sent via email thus the non-HD quality but you can still get a good idea of how the games play.

Also, first footage of Aliens Armageddon. The game plays similar to Terminator Salvation, which is not too surprising given that the same development team is responsible for both games (as well as Aliens Extermination). There is more voice acting in this and the HUD has changed. We’ll know more about the differences before too long.

Also I was told that Wahlap (Chinese manufacturer that made waves a couple of years ago at a previous IAAPA with their high-quality Storm Racer game) had a new IGS racer that was drawing a bit of attention called Overtake. We covered Overtake earlier this year and it looks like they are positioning it to release here in North America. Here is a trailer for the game, basically looks like you are a stunt driver that has to navigate through explosions and other over-the-top situations. This was one we did not expect to be there but it has a lot of racing competition to go up against.

Our most popular post of the day has certainly been the announcement about Mario Kart GP DX. Here’s some proof of it being at the show in playable form.

Here is another game that I have been told was a big hit so far, Jetpack Joyride Arcade by Adrenaline Amusements. The seat has a rumble feature which I am sure they designed to help it stand out from the tablet cousin.

From a different source, the Specular Interactive twitter feed, a look at the Batman setup at the show.

Let’s close with a shot from the Namco Mach Storm display (source). That’s it for now, much more to come tomorrow!

Hey, now I know what you sound like, ha ha. Almost went to IAPPA this year, was made redundant in Sept so had to cancel at the last minute. Great update vids.

Jetpack Joyride? Is that the phone game? Now that in an arcade? That’s strange!

It’s all the rage now – ever since Fruit Ninja did well now everyone is hopping onto the phone game to arcade wagon.

So sad that even Halfbrick’s social media accounts (and major video game news websites) didn’t immediately report on the arcade port of the game Jetpack Joyride.

The transformer arcade reminds me of lets go jungle, dead storm pirates and the ocean hunter. Does the game use a feature just like the rudder in dead storm pirates and foot pedal in time crisis of some sort?
