Stern Pinball’s The Walking Dead Is Getting A Premium Version

When Stern Pinball announced The Walking Dead Pinball back in September, there was one peculiar thing about the announcement – there was no Premium version. For the past few years, the release schedules have included three versions of a game – the Professional, Premium and Limited Edition models. When TWD didn’t have a Premium, I figured that perhaps some of the Premiums hadn’t been selling too well so they were taking a more cautious approach to that production.

Apparently the demand for the game has been such that they have now decided to make a Premium version of the game. As announced on their Facebook page a short time ago:

Strong Demand Results in Premium Edition Offering from the World’s Leading Maker of Arcade-Quality Pinball Machines

MELROSE PARK, IL – December 11, 2014 – Stern Pinball, Inc., the world’s oldest and largest producer of arcade-quality pinball machines, announced today the availability of the Premium Edition of AMC’s The Walking Dead pinball machine. This is in response to continued strong demand for the title.

The Walking Dead Premium Edition offers the same fan-favorite game play as the sold-out LE model, full of extra features such as additional targets, a special-effect fish tank with illuminated sculpted zombie heads, and a player-controlled motorized crossbow pinball launcher. A new high-definition art package adds to the player’s experience of battling zombies and completing game missions. The Premium Edition rounds out the three model lineup of AMC’s The Walking Dead Pinball, which includes Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition models.

They are suggesting a retail price of $7495 which sounds right in line with other Premium units. Here is a PDF file listing out all of the Premium features. In regards to the accessories that they are selling for this game, like the Zombie Head Fish Tank Topper, those are shipping now as well.

What are your thoughts, good on Stern to make these units or would you have preferred for them to build and sell more LEs?
