Sega Looks To Expand on Their Theme Park Business – (Thanks to Stingray Travel for the tip) – News has come along that Sega is very interested in expand the theme park portion of their company. It’s too early for details at this point other than they are considering it a part of their overall strategy. Given the apparent success of sites like Joypolis in Dubai, I have to imagine that it will be an expansion of that brand of the business. Should be interesting seeing how Nintendo is also looking to expand in that regard.
Team Play Photobooth Nabs Thief – There used to be TV show called America’s Dumbest Criminals, where they would document criminals that were easily caught due to something dumb they did. This case as reported in the Vending Times could have been a candidate for the program although it is more down to innovation on the part of the manufacturer than the thief. Having seen the FunStop Photo booth numerous times at trade shows, I’ve never heard of this security feature. But the external monitor does show people passing by and one should assume that something with a camera in it might be recording you. Granted, photobooths can be a bit more complicated than other kinds of amusement equipment. Check out the full story over at The Vending Times.
Konami BallSpark – Baseball is known as America’s Past Time but you wouldn’t know that by looking at video game development and sales these days. Growing up in the 80s it was the sport that everyone was into, from playing on a Jr. league to collecting cards and playing one of the 5 million baseball titles on the NES (yes I’m exaggerating but it was a lot). New baseball video games haven’t been found in the US for many years now but in Japan where the sport continues to enjoy popularity, they do get the occasional baseball title. The latest is coming to from Konami, where the game has already seen some testing; here is a trailer. This and many other games are expected to show up at the JAEPO 2016 event this next week.
Unlock Blood in Metal Slug 6 Arcade – I saw this posted by Arcade Belgium, who reposted it from the MAMEWorld forums. After being on the market for 10 years, it was discovered how to get into the Atomiswave “debug” mode, where in certain games like Metal Slug 6, you can activate the blood like other versions of the game had. It’s not an easy trick to pull off…I have an MS6 but need a second person to get the right buttons pressed. Or I need to try it in a different cabinet. Either way, this will allow the game to fully live up to the Animated Violence Strong rating, if you wish to go all the way.

It’s really cool that the videogame companies are coming out with theme parks. I read about their displays at big shows, and hoped it could be turned into something for a theme park.
Now to wait to see if Konami is making a new arcade game, or gambling something or other.
I think 1 is Dragon’s Lair 2. At least I don’t recognize it from the first game.

It’s amazing that companies are still making arcade games inspite that most people are into consoles and smartphones. Still as a 90s baby and kid who got engaged in playing games at the Arcade, it’s a fun experience. I’m quite surprised that Konami ‘s making game outside of the Yugioh world. I’ll try to play some of these games as soon as they’re available in my area. On the otherhand, I might play Dragons Lair 2 because it’s still the known game.
