Raw Thrills Introducing Halo: Fireteam Raven 2-Player Model At IAAPA 2018

When I first heard about Halo: Fireteam Raven, I was also given a hint from the tipster that more than one model was in the works. When the big reveal came along in May, only the “Super Deluxe” 4-player model was shown & later released. Many of you have likely seen or played that model at a Dave & Busters or other FEC that already got their hands on the game over the summer.

As awesome as the 4-player model is, it is a massive piece that simply can’t fit in every location; it also is the most expensive title Raw Thrills has ever produced. To expand the game’s reach by offering the same game and excitement to smaller locations, the company has a 2-player model which will be introduced at IAAPA 2018.

As a note, we did run a post about this a couple of weeks ago, but that had to be removed as the image of the cabinet that appeared online through a distributor was posted too early, was not a final cabinet render and had to be scrubbed. The new image below has been approved by everyone in the licensing mix, so there should be no trouble this time.

As you can see here, the 2-player model keeps the essential overall design as found with the 4-player models (curved back, same guns, same kind of artwork, etc.). The game content is the same as the Super Deluxe model, although any time you remove the number of players and a screen, the experience will be slightly different. This cabinet uses a 55″ 4K display, making the screen the same size as The Walking Dead and Jurassic Park environmental models (the overall dimensions will vary, slightly; thanks to RT for correcting that):

Where I’ll be at IAAPA 2018, I’ll get more details on this one then. What do you think about this smaller version of Halo: Fireteam Raven?

UPDATE:

An official press release was issued this morning about this new cabinet. This suggests that the game is in production and ready to order from distributors now. Also confirms that we won’t have to pull this post again.

That’s awesome. I’m really glad they made such a high-earning game more accessible to smaller arcades. Maybe this could even come to The Game Grid alongside Jurassic Park Arcade and The Walking Dead! Heh-heh.

One thing I will say, though, is that I would still like to see an even smaller cabinet. What’s stopping this from landing in a modified Terminator Salvation 32-inch cab? Or heck, even a four-player, Time Crisis-style upright? Sit-down units are great, but there’s nothing as universally versatile as a cheap upright.

Nice! I demanded a 2 player version from the beginning. A single screen looks better than two side by side.
