Game Galaxy Arcade – Antioch, TN, USA

It’s time for another arcade review and this time we are taking a look at the Game Galaxy Arcade in Antioch,
Tennessee in the Hickory Hollow Mall next to the food court. They follow a growing trend among arcades – focus on the gaming and go from there. They have around 70 games total, 30 classic titles and 40 more modern titles with no redemption games. Making up for the lack of redemption is a game console section
that is regularly used for fighting tournaments (but also includes a number of other games that players can enjoy); players can jump on to the consoles for $3 an hour ($5 if you buy two hours, $10 to play all day) and paying for that is cash only. They also have 6 pinball games (Phantom of the Opera, The X-Files, Elvira Scared Stiff, High Speed, F14 Tomcat & Fun House) and both the arcade and pinball games run on good ol’ quarters.
Here is a partial list of the games you can expect to find at the Game Galaxy Arcade, they definently have something for everyone, with an emphasis on fighting games (not all games mentioned are pictured below and vice versa). As you see directly below, they have the arcade version of Tekken 6 setup with an HD screen and an arcade controller base connected to the game. I hadn’t seen a kit of T6 before.

It looks like arcades are contacting you now to review/show them?
Great game selection. It could do a little more in the decor department, but that’s okay if you have Ninja Gaiden, Rastan, MK II, Elvira, etc. They should get more gun and driving games, tho.

Paul,
That would be correct. I’m fine with it since there is no way all the writers on the site would ever be able to visit all the arcades everywhere.
I’ve contacted a few arcades myself that have websites about reviewing them – a few responded others ignored it.

Wish this website had more information: phone number or what hours they were open.

They should have their website up soon. You can check out Tennessee threads on shoryuken.com or tekkenzaibatsu.com in the meantime.

It’s bumpin’ with pretty much any fighting game you could want to play, including an arcade/console hybrid setup where you can play any console fighter with arcade sticks. Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion!!!
Come play!

I remember when that place was called The Gold Mine.
And Hickory Hollow was actually a safe place to shop.
It looks like the owner of the place got some of his old games out of storage. All those games were there, before, one time or another. I remember playing Funhouse, High Speed, and Mechanized Attack there, back in the early 90′s.
I’m seriously gonna be hitting that place up, now that they have a Robotron machine, again (they had one in the early 80′s, and I used to play the hell out of it.)

Cool place to visit. Game Galaxy Arcade is a one of a kind. Came here to see Tekken 6 (.75 cents) and Streetfighter 4. Staff was cool. Kuddos for the honor system! If you’re a Tekken gamer, bring your PS2 or prostick controller. The Tekken 6 controller board needs to be bolted down. Other than the insane powerful bosses, Tekken 6 played like what I expected and more. Enjoyed the rest of the nostalgic games from the past 20 years… awesome! Thanks!
