GlobalVR has updated their website (probably in anticipation for ASI this next week) and along with changing some of the aesthetics and adding some new features such as gameplay videos for most of their games, new promotional videos for each title built into each page and on their products page, a tiny mention of their next title for arcades, Need For Speed Carbon. We had heard that a new technical racer was in the works from GVR so it looks like this is it. This also continues their recent tradition of bringing console games to the arcade but until some real details come along on this, we won’t know how it will differ from the home versions. As always we’ll let you know the details as soon as we get them. As for this trend of bringing home console games to the arcade, I really wonder if someone will venture to somehow bring Halo to the arcades to capitalize on that wave (hey, they did it with Half-Life 2 in Japan).

I don’t know the exact FPS but form what I have seen of other PC titles that come to arcades, it’s appears to be 60 or so.

Racing games are always great fun at the arcades. Hope it does well. I do like the older need for speeds a little better, ever since “The Fast and The Furious came out though it has been all these newer street cars. I liked it better when it was ferraris and diablos and the like.

I haven’t played NFS Carbon but I know that they are positioning it to compete with the likes of Initial D4 and Maximum Tune 3. Should be interesting to watch how it pans out.
