Retro Gamer #52 – King of Kong, Atari interviews and more

HeavyElectricity June 20, 2008 2

The new issue of UK publication Retro Gamer has hit newsagents, and it features a lot of interesting material for fans of classic arcade games. For fans of juicy gossip, the first port of call will be the article on the making of The King of Kong, which gives a say to the film’s director Seth Gordon, as well as players Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell and Twin Galaxies president Walter Day.

There’s a six page feature on the making of the legendary 1983 Atari game Star Wars, with project leader Mike Hally interviewed. Another six pages are devoted to Namco’s Ridge Racer, with arcade game designer Fumihiro Tanaka and Playstation visual director Yozo Sakagami interviewed, and Atari Games’ Klax gets four pages, with Mark Stephen Pierce explaining how he took on the job of producing a game to show at ATEI in just four months.

The magazine also features articles on arcade games Saint Dragon and Escape From the Planet of the Robot Monsters, and a review of the PSP arcade compilation SNK Arcade Classics I. If all that tickles your fancy, the magazine costs £4.99 and should be on the shelves until July 16th.

I noticed your review of “The King of Kong”. We are distributing a very similar gaming documentary, “E-Athletes”, which releases on DVD, January 27th, 2009.
    Attached is a sell sheet.

We would love to send you a screener for review.

Would you be of interest? If so, what would be the best address to send you a copy?

Thank you so much and look forward to hearing from you.
