I meant to get to this a couple of days ago but unfortunately I’ve been a little tied up and there is a lot of news to post all of the sudden. But that’s all right, a lot of news is better than little or no news.
As you know, the Big Buck Hunter 2008 World Championship took place back on Oct. 18th and it sounds like it was a blast to witness. It was a double elimination tournament and in the end it came down to two players, Dan Mundschau and Jerad Berg. As the press release states, it was a very close (and thus exciting) match, catch the full rundown on the event after the break (along with extra pictures).
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
THE 2008 BIG BUCK HUNTER® PRO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP CONQUERED CHICAGO
Glen Ellyn, IL Oct 22nd, 2008 – The Excalibur nightclub in downtown Chicago played host to the 2008 Big Buck Hunter Pro World Championship on Saturday, October 18th, and the event could not have been more exciting. Players from all over the United States traveled to the Windy City for their chance to claim the title and some cold hard cash. With the beautiful Big Buck Girls on hand and a raucous crowd, the players competed for 3 hours in a challenging double elimination format. As the tournament rolled along, the matches became tighter and upsets often occurred, resulting in no number 1 seeds placing in the top 8.
The final round, which required the two players to play a full adventure (15 sites plus 3 bonus rounds), was the most entertaining and enthralling part of the evening. Dan Mundschau entered into the final match with no losses, needing only one more win to secure the World Championship. Jerad Berg had the baggage of one loss and would need to win twice to bring home the Championship. Jerad Berg dominated the Caribou and won, giving Dan one loss and forcing a second and final match. The top two players in the world faced off again and this time it was a very tight game. After 15 Elk sites and 2 bonus rounds, only 19 points separated the two men as they stepped into the final bonus round. As the crowd yelled and screamed during the Frog Flippin’ Bonus, Jerad Berg pulled away from his opponent and took the title of World Champion and a $10,000 pay day.
“The level of gameplay and sportsmanship was off the charts during the entire event and the final round was one of the most exciting events that I have ever witnessed!” exclaimed Play Mechanix President, George Petro. He continues, “The fact that we had such an amazing group of players come from all corners of the country to play on a game that has been out for over 2 years is a testament to popularity of Big Buck Hunter Pro! I cannot wait until we do this again next year!”
Everyone at Play Mechanix, Raw Thrills and Betson Enterprises would like to thank everyone who came out and made this event such a success.
