IAAPA 2010: Betson/Raw Thrills booth

arcadehero November 19, 2010 4

Continuing with the IAAPA gravy train here, we have the Betson booth, which featured products from Raw Thrills, Play Mechanix, Konami and Chicago Gaming. Here are some of the new games they had on-hand:

Big Buck World – Prior to this show, the only event where this had been seen was the Big Buck Hunter World Championships that were held over a month ago. It seems to be a proper celebration for the series’ 10th anniversary, by combining content from Big Buck Hunter and Big Buck Safari into one game while adding even more content on top of that. For BBH fans, this will be the definitive version of the game.
Fast And Furious Super Cars – We ran the first information and cabinet picture of Super Cars not long ago but this is the first time the game has been shown like this and it’s the first chance we got to see it in action. It’s an improved version of Tokyo Drift with better graphics, more tracks & cars and a few new touches to the software such as turn advisory signals, new tricks(you also have time deducted from your overall race time depending on the tricks you pull off), achievements and a distance meter from the goal.
Super Bikes 2 – A sequel to Raw Thrills’ successful motorcycle racing game. Like Super Cars, SB2 takes the original game and improves the graphics, adds more content such as tracks and new bikes along with a shiny new cabinet. Noteworthy here is they have added something that is very much like a TRON lightcycle to the game, which is a great touch.
Dance Dance Revolution X2– Despite Konami’s strong presence in Asia and IAAPA being an international show, DDR continues to be the only Konami product represented at Us amusement trade shows. The new game has some features which are appealing to both novice and hardcore players but there appear to be a couple of software issues that need to be taken care of, one of which you will see happen below. UPDATE: Sorry, I forgot to post the video to this, it’s there now.

Frogger – I also have decided to add the Frogger video redemption game to this post since it was developed by Raw Thrills but it was featured at the ICE booth. ICE also had a Price is Right video redemption game which you can see below.

Along with some other titles I have filmed before: Wheel of Fortune, Terminator Salvation, H2Overdrive, Galactix, & Nicktoons Nitro

Booth Overview:

Did you ask RT as to why Super Bikes 2 doesn’t have the Fast and the Furious licensing, but Super Cars does?

Pretty much comes down to money. Keeping the licensing for just one of the titles was more effective for what they needed to do and with Super Cars it made more sense as the movies focus more on cars than bikes.
