Konami fixes DDRX2 timing issues before US release

(Thanks to Phil for the tip!)

When we recently saw the brand new Dance Dance revolution X2 machine at Betson’s IAAPA booth in Orlando, I caught a problem with the game on camera where it locked up for a brief moment in the middle of the song – there were also reports of other timing issues and even a software crash here and there. Suffice it to say, the build they had running was not the best way to show the game off. Fortunately for DDR fans, Konami is working hard to resolve these issues before the game is released in a couple of weeks and they even invited a couple of expert DDR players from BemaniStyle.com down to the Konami offices in California to playtest the latest software. As you can read there, the issues have been all but resolved, with a few minor timing drifts being discovered and corrected. As such by the time the game is released, players should have a worry-free experience to look forward to, which is certainly made possible by the joint efforts of Konami and the fans working together to prevent a sub-par release.

UPDATE: As they promised, the BemaniStyle guys got a chance to play the final build and are happy to report that there are no drifting/lag/lock-up issues to report. You can read about it here

I been busy with school work and what not that I haven’t had the time. I will after Wednesday. I told Adam about the test. However, I did not have time to go into deep detail about it. Hopefully, when I’m done and passed my classes, I’ll be back with reports as well as other content.

They weren’t timing drifts that we discovered during the test, it was monitor lag that needs to be compensated for. They’re in the process of fixing it now and we’ll be conducting a follow up test for them this up coming thursday in Chicago at the factory where the cabinets are being built.

As for phil, he just came kind of last minute at my request to help us get solid data. There wasn’t anything new about the cabinet to merit taking any pictures.

can we ensure some images of the update screen (rev number) and confirmation of the changes to be included in the post-IAAPA orders – on the next visit?
