Vote for the Arcade Game of the Year 2010

arcadehero December 22, 2010 16

It’s that time of year again, the one where you the arcade fans get to pick your favorite game of 2010 as the Arcade Heroes Game of the Year. I decided to start the poll off a little later than usual to ensure that no games are released right after the poll; it also will be open for a full month to give you time to go out and try as many of these games as possible so you can get a feel for them. Need help finding an arcade location near you? I suggest using both Aurcade and Arcade Fly to pinpoint a location and game you are looking for.

It should be interesting to see how this all turns out as there have been many good games released this year – to keep the poll smaller this will only cover releases outside of various Asian markets (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, etc.) but if anyone is interested in voting for a GOTY for those territories I can set a poll up for that separately. UPDATE: Separate poll is now live! If you are looking for games like Darius Burst Another Chronicle or Super Street Fighter IV, then go to that poll!

Also, I have not included “Videmption” games on this list – games which are video games but were made specifically for ticket redemption. Stuff like Wheel of Fortune, Frogger, Kaboom!, Pigs Might Fly, etc. If anyone wants a poll on those we could consider them or just use the OTHER option at the bottom of this poll. There are a couple of games which we thought had been released this year (such as Pac-Man’s Battle Royale and Friction) but it turns out they haven’t seen a release quite yet so they will have to wait until next year’s poll. I also didn’t include multigame cabinets like Arcade Legends 3, Pac-Man’s Arcade Party or even the Let’s Kinect since those are either compilations of classic games or can use multiple console games but if you felt them deserving of the recognition then that’s what the OTHER option is for.

I also need to point out that this is for REAL arcade games, not Xbox Live Arcade or any other kind of title billed as an arcade game for home consoles.

As always, if you have problems voting in the poll or a suggestion about this particular poll, say something in the comments. Your comment will not appear right away but it will usually after a short time.

Once again, if you are looking for games like Darius Burst Another Chronicle and Super Street Fighter IV, we have a separate poll set up for those games.

I selected Terminator because of the impact it has had on the market as well as the impact as a good game – I am not going to get into the ALIEN/Terminator fanboy-flaming that is going on over the similarities – it is just a business vote!

I picked dead storm pirates because of it reminding me of let’s go jungle and that they took what made LGJ a hit along with their own original ideas and made it even better with it’s motion seat and wheel action. Elivator action death oared is also very good but because I’ve only seen it in trocadero fun land I don’t count it.

Second is terminator because of it’s beautiful graphics and challenging gameplay.

Hopping road would come second but because it’s too easy and only gives you 2 laps and is only really fun in multiplayer it comes 3rd

H2Overdrive was released in 2009 and was on last year’s poll. It did win Game of the Decade however!

So far it’s looking like a more interesting and close vote than we saw with our previous years polls where the light-gun games are going to be duking it out.

Was Pac Man Battle Royale this year?

    • arcadehero December 24, 2010 at 10:36 pm - Reply

No that has been delayed until 2011. It’s too bad really since this year is Pac-Man’s 30th birthday.

I wanted to vote King of Fighters XIII but it was pretty hard, there are so many good arcade games this year to pick from.

I know it’s only been out for less than two weeks, but Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition was a much anticipated and highly sought after game for the competitive community.

You can find that on our GOTY Asian Market edition poll, which is still on the front page. 🙂

Sorry! I followed a link from Arcaderepairtips.com while doing some random browsing and I guess I didn’t read thoroughly. *embarrassed*
