First pics of GUN-LORD unveiled

After teasing a new sidescrolling 2D jump n’ shoot game a few months ago, the NG:DEV.TEAM has finally unveiled the first pictures from the alpha build of the NeoGeo version of their upcoming game GUN-LORD. Yes, that is in fact for the Neo Geo MVS, so a few arcades should be picking this up when it’s released later this year. It will be coming to the Dreamcast as well to satisfy collectors of that system as well but in the arcade it’s been years since this kind of game has come around so I’m excited to see the final version of it once they have it ready to go. It still is too early to tell how the game will play, although I like the Shadow of the Beast meets Turrican vibe they have going on there as far as the artwork is concerned. It’s too bad that homebrew development for a Dreamcast-based arcade system like NAOMI or Atomiswave is non-existent as a port there would probably be simpler than from the NG to DC.

I’m actually getting a strong ‘Turrican’ vibe from the upper/left screenshot,
with the horizontal diamond-shaped collectables and the 3-way fire.

And ‘Turrican’ vibes are a nice vibe indeed.

I would love to try that game out. I have a dreamcast however would it play on a pal dreamcast? I would personely like to play this in an arcade but they would have to put the game in a very nice modren cabinet as if they put the game in an old standard cabinet it will just look dated and no many people especially younger players would play it

Yes it will play on a PAL Dreamcast if you have a PAL-60 capable TV (or use a VGA box).

Sadly, I don’t run a location, and with the prices NG:DEV usually asks for Neo Geo kits there’s no way I’ll get one before the inevitable “it’s been out for 5 days so we’re sold out forever” point (what happened to me with their last MVS release). Still, it’s great to see support for the console. Do you have any clue how they’re programming this? Do you need an MVS dev kit or is there a given scripting language that works on MVS carts?
