Seen at AAMA Gala 2011: Deadstorm Pirates Upright, Pac-Man Battle Royale Deluxe

(Thanks to Sam Ven of Namco for the pics!)

The new products just keep rolling out as we get more information from what was at the AAMA Gala this week. Here is a look at two new products from Namco America. These are prototype cabinets at the moment so changes could be made before their final release, which I imagine will be happening by the end of this year.

First is one we already caught a glimpse of a short time back, a new deluxe upright cabinet for Pac-Man Battle Royale (click to zoom):

And then something we didn’t know about yet, a new upright cabinet for Deadstorm Pirates. This is certainly a great way to get the game out in to more locations that didn’t have the space or money to nab the deluxe sitdown version, although it probably would have been better to have this a while back when DSP first came out. Better late than never though. I imagine that one change that will be made to this cabinet is the line under the title is “closed style booth” gun game since that won’t apply here. But otherwise the guns and wheel look the same and that is most likely a 32″ LCD screen.

As far as we know, the software is the same on both of these titles; pricing isn’t know yet and probably won’t be until the games are made available for release.

I want to play on that pac-man cabinet at least once.

Was there a prior upright cab for Deadstorm? Because I could swear the local CEC has one, sized for kids (I had to get on my knees to play it). I’ll have to look again next time we take the kids, but I really think it’s there. Is this just one with a larger screen?

Or perhaps it’s something else and I’m getting confused. But I thought I remembered the zombie pirates, the ‘shoot together for more power’ thing, etc. Is there another similar game that I could be mistaking for Deadstorm?

There is an upright cab for a similar game, both for Let’s Go Jungle and Let’s Go Island by Sega which are similar to Deadstorm. But so far this is the first time DSP gets such a cabinet. It could be that the local CEC was a location test for DSP or I have heard of a ticket redemption pirate themed game, although it uses a lit pirate wheel and no guns.

Thank you may have meant LAI’s Pirate Revenge (redemption game).

Can I just be clear – we have gone from the AAMA claim that there was going to be at least ten new videos to one! and two new cabs.

Hi Michael. You are correct about seeing a Deadstorm Pirates at CEC.

The Deadstorm Pirates cab that you played, Michael, have been in CEC locations for quite some time now.

Thank you. I’m glad to know I’m not nuts.
