Electric Theater Arcade Grand Opening Event Next Week in Independence, MO

This is the (temporary) place, right in the center there, as seen from Google Street View

(Thanks to DasBacon for the tip)

If you live in or near Independence Missouri, then a new arcade is about to open it’s doors, one that we have discussed in the past called The Electric Theater Vintage Arcade. Their Grand Opening event will be taking place next week and it looks to be a temporary situation as they test revenue generation with the equipment they already have. You can read more about it on the Facebook Event page.  It will take place on September 2nd and will be covering Labor Day weekend and to top it off, they are right next door to a pizza restaurant which is certainly a good idea. With $5 admission and all games on freeplay, I wouldn’t be surprised if they fill up quickly.

As always I hope the best for the location and it’s owners, they are focusing on retro gaming and given the size of the final facility, they should have plenty of games there to keep you busy, if you happen to drop by. Some of the games they will have on hand, according to the website:”Galaga, Ms Pacman, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong JR, Missile Command, Crystal Castles, Marble Madness, Centipede, Spy Hunter, Paperboy, Joust, Dragon’s Lair, Tron”.

Also not to forget, a documentary about the location (the Electric Theater has some history in the area)is still in the works and they will be filming during the event so if you needed another reason to show up beyond classic gaming goodness, there you go.
