Cave unveils Dodonpachi Saidaioujou for Arcades

The Dodonpachi series has created a strong following in circles of shmup players and while it had seemed for a time that Cave might give up on arcades in favor of developments elsewhere, that seems to have been put on hold from the news this morning. Cave has announced that this Spring they are going to release Dodonpachi Saidaioujou in Japanese arcades, after testing it out next month. As usual, I imagine that we will only see this out West as an import. Aside from that, nothing is known about the game at the moment but I’m sure that will be changing before too long as details will certainly begin leaking out soon.

Sadly I can’t see myself ever coming across this in an arcade unless someone imports this. Darius BAC was due to be released in the west but I haven’t heard anything since last year 🙁

You can play Darius BAC at Round 1 La Puente Mall in California if you’re close by.

Glad to see CAVE make a comeback to the arcade business.

After all those Iphone and XBLA ports they better be back in the game! I have high hopes for CAVE.

Can’t wait to see the new updated Dodonpachi game from CAVE. Darius Burst was fun but really hard when I played in Japan last summer. I think I’m better at CAVE shmups 😉

    I can’t wait for this! I wasn’t too keen on Dai-Fukkatsu though…
