New Trailer For Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Unlimited; Western release for Sega’s MaiMai?

Namco America has uploaded a new trailer to Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Unlimited, which in a way confirms what I reported on just a few days ago that this is coming to arcades in America. What is significant about this trailer is that it’s in English, tailored specifically for the Western market. For now, the release date is Spring 2012 – I  imagine with the game being at Amusement Expo next week, we will be seeing it show up by April. As I have stated on the Facebook page, my hope for this is that it won’t be overpriced and that the arcade version will have enough time on the market to make up for the costs before the console release hits. At the very least where this is an online enabled machine, I have high hopes that such connectivity will allow arcades here the chance to keep the game up-to-date easily.

Now for something that hit over the weekend that I have checked into but so far have not been able to confirm. We’ve already discussed Sega’s newest music rhythm game on the site and this weekend reader Kieran May pointed out a video by the popular DigInfo News that covers all sorts of technology news coming from Japan. At the very end of the video, they state that Sega plans to release the game “overseas as well”, which is the first we’ve heard of that.It is slightly surprising as Sega has not given much love to rhythm games outside of Japan but I think that this could provide some interesting competition to the likes of DJ Max Technika 3 and ReRave. It’s also a very unique looking game, something that just wouldn’t be the same on any home release (unless someone does a circular shaped tablet one day 😛 )

Is it me – or are you also surprised that all these new game release proposals come from ‘sources’ rather than just a simple comment from the US factories? It is as if the market is trying a new route to market!

Maimai could be very sucessful if it’s given a good choice of music and given a good name ‘Maimai’ isn’t very attractive name at all. Also use youtube, facebook and twitter features that could work so people on facebook can see you in action

Maimai written as 舞舞 means snail, which represents the circular shape as well as the mascot, which is a snail. Also 舞 is the kanji for dance so overall there is no name that could be anymore perfect for the game than this.
And yes, this game would definitely be successful if they added some video game songs that are known by the west as well as some other songs that could be internationally popular, that way they can keep the old playlist and expand it even further on all continents while allowing players to communicate world wide since they are going to be playing the same songs.
