BBC Takes Notice Of Pinball Resurgance With Another New Pinball Manufacturer, Heighway Pinball

(Thanks to everyone that sent this in!; pictures below via The Stinger Report and were taken at the EAG2013 show last week)

Thanks to the EAG Expo that took place last week, arcade and pinball games are getting some mainstream media attention. BBC News has an article up called “Flipping heck: Is pinball about to stage a recovery?” that takes a look at the growth of these games in recent years, which includes some information about newcomers Jersey Jack Pinball, Quetzal Pinball(we covered them here) and one company I had overlooked previously, Heighway Pinball.

Being a UK-based company, Heighway gets a lot of the attention in the article where we learn about some of their plans for innovating the game. That includes online features which the article says that all three companies are looking into. This is something that we have been preaching for a while here on AH – there is no reason that games should still be on par (or worse) than some pinball games from the 90s yet such has been the case for more than a decade now. Heighway was supposed to be at EAG but according to Pinballnews.com, technical issues with their first game called Full Throttle unfortunately kept them from being at the show. That’s too bad and hopefully they’ll overcome the set back as Full throttle looks pretty cool, with an LCD screen built into the playfield itself(something done with a few other projects like Ben Heck’s Zombie Adventureland Pinball and the P3 pinball system) and its not a licensed game either. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I do not believe that a license is a surefire way to move units. Full Throttle looks plenty interesting to me, Pinballnews has many more details on the game which you can read here.
