New Footage of Jersey Jack Pinball’s The Hobbit Pinball Prototype

With a release slated for this year, the clock is counting down for the release of Jersey Jack Pinball’s second game, The Hobbit Pinball. Today JJP released new videos showing the game in action, albeit it is still in whitewood (pinball speak for beta) form and is missing various components that will be important to the game including “… JJP’s proprietary target banks as several of them are not populated into this earlier whitewood. Also not shown is Smaug and how he will integrate with game play. ” I have to imagine that the dragon will change things up quite a bit from what is shown here; I also imagine there will be a lot more lighting to give the game the flashy look one expects from a pin (moreso with JJPs LED lighting system used in WOZ). The release also has this quote from Jack about how the game will play: “”Joe Balcer created another great game with a lot to shoot for and a lot of challenges. This is a Pinball Battle game. The level of player control and strategy in The Hobbit is a departure from what WOZ is. Between Keith and Ted, we can promise a game packed with the depth, modes, and rules that they are well known for.”

(As a note, if it sounds “clangy” its because pretty much all pinball games sound a bit different with the glass off)

And as another treat, here is a new video showing the backbox animation for a Multiball. Again it’s the bonus for having a full color HD display, integrating assets of the license in a unique way for the game.
