Star Wars Battle Pod Gets A Special Home Release

(Thanks to Kevin Williams for the tip)

I meant to get to this yesterday but was occupied with working on the latest podcast(which we also forgot to mention on the podcast…whoops). Here’s the headline:

Star Wars Battle Pod Home Version Confirmed for US/EU/JP

I had heard about its development a few months ago but at the time it was sounding like they were looking to go in the direction of price reduction. As this link above mentions, the home price for a standard pod is on par with where you find the commercial edition but they have gone to town with a “Premium Edition” of the game, which adds a special art skin (for Rebel or Darth Vader), exclusive carpeting, special serial plaque with the owners name engraved into it and that name added to the end credits. One of these beauties will set you back $100,000 (plus shipping/taxes), making it one of the more expensive, and certainly going to be rare, Star Wars collectibles. We could also safely say that it will take the cake as the most costly Star Wars video game out there.

My local Dave and Buster’s has it. Really immersive. Only downside is you have to pay approx 3$ for one level.

Why do they bother with something like this when it’s clearly out of reach for many people to buy. The only people I can think of that would buy one are millionaires like Seth macfalene who are big Star Wars fans that made family guy, American dad and Ted.

Yep, that is pretty much it. Kind of like millionaire Trekkies that will spend a pretty penny on memorabilia and other collectibles, there are many of those in the Star Wars aisle as well.
