Namco Launches Their Star Wars Battle Pod Game Locator

Back in February, we reported that Bandai Namco Amusements America (the US arcade wing of the BN company) was working on building a Star Wars Battle Pod game locator. One frequent complaint I hear about new games is that people have a hard time finding them, so for this specific game, this certainly helps. While no claim is made that it is a 100% complete list, it is rather extensive, also showing that there are a number of locations in the UK that have it; some other international locations showing a marker include The Netherlands, Brazil, New Zealand, Mexico, Boliva, and Panama. Each listing states either “Standard” (meaning the sitdown cockpit dome screen pod) or “Flat Panel” (the non-pod) at the location; in looking through the list, I don’t see any locations with the Premium model out there although for how much that game costs it isn’t a surprise.

Using my own

This also shows us that the game has sold pretty well – almost every state in the USA has one. If you have one and don’t find your location on the list, then go ahead and let Namco know. What do you think of this idea?

(I should point out that websites like Aurcade.com do a good job at trying to track this sort of thing for all games and locations but it is not an easy job and requires user participation. It is welcome when we see this effort come from the manufacturers as I think the public profile they have helps reach more potential clients.)

I’m wondering why they didn’t set this up as a Facebook page similar to what they did for the Pac-Man Battle Royale game. I feel in this day and age that more people would see it there than on a website.

It is available on facebook as a tab app on the left side of our facebook page 🙂

I feel sorry for all those people in the Midwest. This game’s availability is going to be like trying to find a place that plays Hateful Eight in IMAX 70mm.
Yeah I know that sounds painful, but that experience is only privileged (key word) to those in reach. I hope there will be a further push for getting these areas covered.

Well, there are a few possibilities. One is that there are a few venues there that have not reported the presence of the game to Namco yet; or there are venues there but they cannot afford the costs (even a single Flat Screen falls around $11k); or there are simply no venues (lots of rural space there). I think it has always been a little difficult for some spots in the Midwest due to that and you aren’t going to have any convenience stores buying a set due to the high costs (wouldn’t that be something!).

I had some hope for GB before they remodeled their stadium, but they took out the game section. That pretty much killed what we had left for gaming around in this area. I think it’s funny when we talk about who can and can’t afford to buy one and there’s a ton of markers all the way down in that Crime-Central hotspot you call Chicago.

Well even when someone can afford it, doesn’t always mean that they are interested in it either (retrocades/nickelcades/classic arcades or other venues where it just doesn’t cross their minds)

Your link for let Namco know does not work. I already found an issue with the list. They are still listing the Dave and Busters Buffalo on Transit Road, that location has moved to the Galleria Mall on Galleria Dr.

I wonder if they’ll state on their website when the new levels will be added?
