Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is still months away from an arcade release but while you wait it can’t hurt to see the game in action as it was shown this past weekend at a Major League Gaming event in Dallas, TX. Katsuhiro Harada was there to show off his work on the game, which you can see below. There is still no word on a US arcade release for this and while it’s a good sign that this was being shown at a US event, I wouldn’t get too excited yet as this can be used solely to promote the eventual console release of the game. It was great that Tekken 6 got a couple of years of exclusive time in arcades and hopefully Namco will give TTT2 a similar treatment along with a more reasonable price tag. Perhaps we’ll find out at IAAPA what Namco’s international TTT2 arcade plans happen to be.

I think that they might release this in the arcades as I remember reading on highway games that they found that letting tekken 6 have more time in the arcades was very successful for them and the operator. It can’t hurt them and if anything they’ll be promoting the game in the arcades saying that it will come to consoles soon and give players a glimpse of what to expect. But even with tekken 6 out I still find people on the machine in namco trafford centre in Manchester 🙂
It is an arcade release at the moment with no console version that I know of but this is Tekken and it’s Namco so TTT2 on consoles is all but a given. 🙁 What I’m wondering about is how long will they give it in arcades this time? About two years like T6 or a few months like T5?
Glad to see they are bringing back some of mechanics from Urban Reign, that was a great underrated 4 player brawler for the PS2…
